Cleveland Browns quarterback Robert Griffin III suffered an injury not many have heard of before, breaking a coracoid bone in his left shoulder. ESPN senior writer Stephania Bell, a physical therapist who is an orthopedic clinical specialist as well as a strength and conditioning specialist, said it’s too soon to fully assess the impact of the injury.
The Browns said Griffin will be evaluated in 3-4 weeks.
“The coracoid is a little, bony projection on the front part of the scapula or shoulder blade,” Bell said. “It’s an attachment point for ligaments to stabilize the collarbone and an attachment for a smaller portion of the pectoral muscle.
