Special teams play or lack thereof spoiled the Browns’ party in a 27-20 defeat to the Oakland Raiders at FirstEnergy Stadium Sunday afternoon.
While it’s easy to call this a team loss given the play across all three units, two pivotal special teams miscues served as huge obstacles to a Browns victory.
The first came with 9:38 left in the second quarter and the Raiders leading 3-0. On fourth-and-5 and the Raiders in punt formation, the Browns sent the house — Barkevious Mingo, Marlon Moore, Tank Carder and Shaun Draughn — to block Marquette King’s punt, Moore said.
