Browns rookie wide receiver Jordan Payton was near UCLA’s campus when a shooting paralyzed it with fear earlier this month.
On the morning of June 1, former doctoral student Mainak Sarkar fatally shot professor William Klug in a fourth-floor office of an engineering building on the campus’ south side. Sarkar then committed suicide.
“Man can’t believe this right now,” Payton wrote on Twitter that day.
Payton was working out in a gym close to campus when panic struck. An alert delivered to students about an active shooter sent thousands of them running for cover and barricading themselves in classrooms, bathrooms and dorms during a lockdown.
