When the Browns said they were going to rebuild from the ground up, they weren’t joking.
In what’s been a head-scratching offseason, Cleveland hasn’t retained a single player from its roster last season. Outside of cutting bait with Dwayne Bowe and “number two”, the team has made some peculiar decisions.
Most recently this weekend, the Browns released veteran safety and Northeast Ohio native Donte Whitner. The day before, they parted ways with Ifo Ekpre-Olumu, a promising draft pick from 2015 that’s on the comeback from a torn ACL in college.
While it’s understandable to let go of their aging talent, letting go of a potentially solid cornerback with a depleted secondary should raise questions—especially considering he hasn’t even stepped foot on an NFL field yet.
