Pro Football Focus published an article last week highlighting the number of missing snaps for each team in the NFL. This post will cover the defensive side of things. PFF used a metric called "Full Time Equivalent" (FTE) to measure how many offensive snaps the team will miss. For example, if the cornerback position saw 1,000 snaps in 2014 and CB Buster Skrine saw 800 snaps, he would earn a FTE of 0.8.
Cumulatively, the Browns' defense had an FTE of 2.62, which was ranked 14th in the NFL. That means they are missing between 2-3 starting-level snaps from a year ago.
