CLEVELAND, Ohio -- The big cigar that was a prop David Modell used to show how important he was turned out to be a weapon he turned on himself.
Art Modell's adopted son died Friday at the age of 56 of lung cancer.
He lacked his father's way with a disarming quip and his father's grit as a self-made man who accrued a great deal of power in the NFL, but never enough money.
