Northeast Ohio lawmakers oppose using tax money to move Cleveland Browns training camp to Columbus

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Northeast Ohio lawmakers say they will fight any attempt to spend tax dollars to move the Cleveland Browns summer training camp from Berea to Columbus.

The Columbus Partnership wants $5 million to build a new athletic facility that would house the Browns in the summer and youth activities the rest of the year.

The partnership put the request on the state capital budget wish list submitted this week. Gov. John Kasich and lawmakers consider requests from regional economic development organizations while drafting the two-year capital budget.

They have no obligation to fund all the proposals, and rarely do.
