Editor’s note: This is the final installment of an eight-part series in which Browns beat writer Nate Ulrich analyzes players who will vie for starting jobs or other important roles during training camp. The first full-squad practice of camp is scheduled to run from 9:30 a.m.-noon Thursday at team headquarters in Berea.
Outside linebacker Paul Kruger had a career-high 11 sacks last season, living up to the hype generated by the five-year, $40 million contract the Browns gave him as an unrestricted free agent in 2013.
But the rest of the defense accounted for just 19 sacks, with end Desmond Bryant’s five making him runner-up to Kruger.
