Here are 11 things to watch when the Browns host Washington in the preseason opener beginning at 8 p.m. Thursday at FirstEnergy Stadium:
1. Quarterback Josh McCown (No. 13): He’s a great guy, leader and mentor, but 17-32 isn’t a great career record. So can this projected starter continue to show signs he can win during the coming season, or will the alarm sound against defenders who aren’t teammates?
2. Quarterback Johnny Manziel (No. 2): It would be a shame if his recent progress were further delayed by the sore right elbow that kept him from throwing Tuesday.
