Marla Ridenour: Was Browns’ GM Ray Farmer’s ‘fairy tale’ comment regarding Marcus Mariota a smokescreen or revelation?

BEREA: “I just don’t believe in the fairy tale any more.”

That comment from Browns General Manager Ray Farmer regarding the team’s supposed desperation to find a franchise quarterback might be the best draft smokescreen quote I’ve heard. And that goes back to 1982, back to when the NFL Draft wasn’t a year-round topic of conversation in Northeast Ohio, back to when there may have been no need for smokescreens.

Farmer tried to downplay the national perception that armed with the 12th and 19th picks in the April 30 NFL Draft, the Browns will move up for a quarterback.
