BEREA: In defending himself on why his new role as Browns’ executive vice president of football operations is not a huge leap, Sashi Brown stated his qualifications for having final say on the team’s 53-man roster.
And in doing so, explained why he shouldn’t.
“Not to be combative, it’s not a huge, huge leap,” Brown said Thursday. “Actually over the last couple of years, I’ve taken on and spent the majority of my time on the football side and been involved in the high-level kind of strategic decisions we’ve made here.”
So the fact that Brown played a part in giving free agent receiver Dwayne Bowe $9 million guaranteed, drafting quarterback Johnny Manziel over David Carr and reaching for cornerback Justin Gilbert is supposed to make fans feel better about the direction of the struggling franchise?
