Joe Burrow is getting paid.
The Cincinnati Bengals quarterback signed a five-year, $275 million extension Thursday, making him the highest-paid player in NFL history.
Burrow has turned the Bengals' fortunes around since joining the franchise in 2020. He led the team to a Super Bowl berth in the 2021-22 season and an AFC championship appearance in 2022-23. Though his career is still young, Burrow's career completion percentage of 68.2% is the highest ever among NFL QBs.
Burrow's deal, while big, is still more than $150 million short of the active "Big Four" American sports record -- an honor held by the Los Angeles Angels' Mike Trout.
