CLEVELAND, Ohio -- David Deming is totally unfazed by the muscular orange figure looming over him. The man is nearly eight feet tall, with thighs the size of beer kegs, and shoulders that might not clear the doorway.
The imposing figure is Jim Brown, the latest in a series of sculptures Deming has created for clients in Cleveland and around the world. The figure -- much like the Hall of Fame Cleveland Browns halfback -- is larger than life.
In February, Browns owners Dee and Jimmy Haslam commissioned Deming, an acclaimed local artist, to sculpt Brown. They wanted to honor him for taking the Browns to their last championship in 1964, and for his contributions to the organization in the decades since the nine seasons he spent on the field.
