It's time. At 1-5, with their season on life support, the Browns need to bench Deshaun Watson. The near-one quarter of a billion dollars Cleveland committed to pay him when it traded three first-round picks to acquire the former Texans quarterback in 2022 is a sunk cost. Continuing to play him both jeopardizes the credibility of the coaching staff to the franchise's fans and players and extinguishes any hope of the Browns turning things around in 2024.
Sunday's loss to the Eagles wasn't Watson's worst performance of the season, but there haven't been any meaningful signs of growth.
