Is the Browns 2017 draft strategy quality over quantity? If so, it sounds like a good plan -- Bud Shaw's Spinoffs

CLEVELAND, Ohio - Cleveland Browns strategy chief Paul DePodesta talked at the owner's meetings in Phoenix and hinted at the reason behind the Brock Osweiler deal.

The Browns looked for creative ways to spend their cap windfall, knowing it was virtually impossible to spend it all on high-value free agents. The Osweiler deal brought a second-round pick.

From the team's perspective, the deal makes sense if the Browns keep that pick and simply use it on a player.

No one will complain, of course, if they maximize that deal and use the pick as part of a package that brings a franchise quarterback.
