BEREA, Ohio -- Hue Jackson and John Dorsey can make this shotgun marriage work, but only if they operate in lockstep and learn to trust each other implicitly.
If they determine over the next month that they share the same vision, philosophy and plan for winning, they should proceed.
But if there's any doubt or potential dealbreakers, especially regarding their blueprint for success, they must hash those out or consider parting ways and not put the team and fan base through another year of a fractured regime.
If they decide they're not a fit, Jackson could possibly return to Cincinnati, either as Marvin Lewis' successor or offensive coordinator.
