Helmet safety has been a focus for the past 30 years. Now, the NFL is stating that the practice helmet protectors that players have been using the past few years called “Guardian Caps” may now become a part of the game.
For the 2024 season, the NFL has mandated that in all practices, players must wear the Guardian Caps for all positions except quarterbacks, kickers, and punters.
