Former Cleveland Browns quarterback Derek Anderson retires

After 13 seasons in the NFL, the Buffalo Bills announced that former Cleveland Browns quarterback Derek Anderson is retiring. In 2007, Anderson helped lead the team to its best season since their NFL return in 1999. The Browns finished the season with a 10-6 record, however they missed the playoffs that season.

Originally drafted by the Baltimore Ravens in the sixth round of the 2005 NFL draft, Anderson was waived by the team and claimed by the Browns in the 2005 season. He served as the backup to Browns starting quarterback Charlie Frye during the 2006 season, and took over the starting job during the 2007 season.
