Being a sports fan is always going to lead to a lot of illogical feelings and thoughts. It is part of what makes covering sports so fun for the media and, at times, frustrating. At times, there is a disconnect between what fans think and what the general sports world sees.
That disconnect might be strongest when it comes to Cleveland Browns DE Myles Garrett. Browns fans, not all, often expect more from Garrett while he is lavished with lauding all over the place externally. For example, in the last few months:
- Won Defensive Player of the Year from the Associated Press
- Named NFL Defensive Player of the Year by the Pro Football Writers of America
- Lauded by three great offensive linemen
- NFLPA (so, players in the league) voted him and Maxx Crosby as the top edge players
- Micah Parsons, among the best edge players, claimed Garrett was clearly the best defender
Garrett had game-changing plays last year, is the Browns clear MVP heading into 2024 and is desperate to win a championship for the team.
