Defensive coordinator Ray Horton denies report he’s been let out of his contract by Titans to join Browns

Ray Horton told ESPN and ProFootballTalk.com on Sunday he hasn’t been released from his contract by the Tennessee Titans to join the Browns as their defensive coordinator despite a report to the contrary.

Fritz Pollard Alliance chairman John Wooten told the Tennessean that Horton was insulted by the Titans after interviewing for their head-coaching position Saturday, only to be passed over for Mike Mularkey. Wooten also said Horton requested to be let out of his contract, Titans president and CEO Steve Underwood told Horton the request would be granted and Horton would join the Browns.

But not long after the Tennessean’s story circulated online Sunday, Horton shot down Wooten’s statements.
