During an offseason supposed to be filled with no turnover, one coach has already lost his job with the Cleveland Browns.
Ray Horton was let go as defensive coordinator after one season, and will be replaced by Gregg Williams. Williams, known for the “Bountygate” scandal in New Orleans, spent last season with the Los Angeles Rams.
Some may be upset at the Browns for making a change after just one year under this new regime, but Williams, at least on paper, serves as an upgrade over Horton’s historically bad defense.
While it is not ideal to make a change after just one year, the move sets up Williams to be in this role for as long as Hue Jackson is the head coach here in Cleveland, which will hopefully be for a long time.
