The calendar is slowly counting down the days until the start of the 2017 NFL regular season and we are now just 79 days away from the Cleveland Browns first game.
Nineteen players have worn uniform number 79 for the Browns over the years, but the most prominent was nose tackle Bob Golic, who played for Cleveland from 1982 to 1988.
A three-time Pro Bowl selection, Golic, along with the late Eddie Johnson, was the heart of the Browns defense that helped turn the Browns into a playoff team. While the defense from that era is remembered for helping blow playoff leads, they were a Top 10 unit in points allowed three times from 1985 to 1988 (and finished 11th the other year).
