CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Cleveland Public Safety Director Michael McGrath on Friday released a statement addressing the relationship between the Browns and his departments in the wake of the controversy over players kneeling during the national anthem during a preseason game.
"The City of Cleveland Divisions of Police, Fire and EMS have been and continue to be highly supportive of our athletes and those within the Browns Organization, participating in community events together throughout the year," McGrath's statement says. "Our safety forces will participate in on-field pregame ceremonies for opening day this Sunday, September 10, 2017 with the Browns athletes.
