BEREA, Ohio -- The Cleveland Browns have terminated the contract of veteran defensive lineman Desmond Bryant and signed defensive lineman Brandon Thompson, the team announced. Bryant's release was first reported by Pro Football Talk.
Bryant signed with the Browns in 2013. He collected 14.5 sacks in 41 games, including a career-high six sacks in 2015.
Bryant, 31, was trying to come back from a torn pectoral muscle, suffered prior to the start of training camp last season. He had spent time this training camp working with the first team defensive line at defensive tackle, but played late into Monday night's preseason game against the Giants, sparking some questions about his future.
