Cleveland Browns Pregame Scribbles: 20 items about defense, offense and how about running the ball? -- Terry Pluto (photos)

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Scribbles in my Cleveland Browns notebook as they prepare to face the New York Giants on Sunday in FirstEnergy Stadium:

1. For the first time in months, I can say the Browns defense showed some progress. That was in the 24-9 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. The defense allowed only 17 of the points. The other seven points came when Josh McCown was hit and fumbled. The Steelers recovered it in the end zone for a TD.

2. Le'Veon Bell rushed for 146 yards, so it's not as if the Browns defense was owning the line of scrimmage.
