CLEVELAND, Ohio -- The Cleveland Browns held an official groundbreaking ceremony at John Adams High School on Tuesday, one of the five sites receiving new synthetic turf fields, a project made possible by owners Dee and Jimmy Haslam.
"We did the fields to fight chronic absenteeism, to get kids engaged in something, to do sports," Dee Haslam said following the ceremony. "Sports, music, art, they all help. But obviously sports fits what we do, and doing the athletic fields was the quickest thing we can do to make an impact."
Browns left tackle Joe Thomas, running back Duke Johnson and kicker Cody Parkey were a part of the ceremony alongside Cleveland City Councilman Zack Reed and Cleveland Metropolitan School District CEO Eric Gordon.
