This one hurt. It was the first start in Baker Mayfield‘s career as the quarterback for the Cleveland Browns and they nearly escaped Oakland Coliseum with a win. And that would have been a feat considering how bad they seemed to try and give this one away.
The Browns and Raiders were caught in a back and forth duel that saw each team look to be in full control of the game for long stretches. When the fourth quarter got rolling, however, the Browns looked ready to put it away.
After Oakland took a one-point lead at 34-28, Cleveland went to work and went up 35-34 on a Carlos Hyde touchdown run — which capped off a seven-play drive that was highlighted by a 59-yard pass from Mayfield to fellow rookie Antonio Callaway.
