On Thursday, the Cleveland Browns announced that they’ve signed safety Derron Smith off the Cincinnati Bengals’ practice squad to their 53-man roster (I guess they weren’t done irritating their division rival after already botching the A.J. McCarron deal).
To make room on the roster for Smith, the team waived safety Ibraheim Campbell with an injury designation. Campbell suffered a hamstring injury during Wednesday’s practice, but it seems unusual to waive him instead of placing him on injured reserve.
More likely, it brings an abrupt end to Campbell's tenure with the team after being a 4th round pick in 2015.
