The Cleveland Browns open the 2017 regular season today against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The Browns have not won a Week 1 game since 2004 and have lost their starting quarterback to injury in the season’s first game in each of the past two seasons.
That is all in the past, however, as the Browns launch the DeShone Kizer era today. Kizer will be the only rookie quarterback to start a game today and the club hopes that he will finally end the quarterback carousel that continues to spin out of control.
While Kizer may not have opened training camp as the starter, head coach Hue Jackson always had it in the back of his mind that Kizer could take the ball on opening day, and prepared the rookie for his big moment, Kizer told clevelandbrowns.
