The Browns are turning to a new punter as they continue to revamp their special teams.
On Saturday, they made a trade with the San Francisco 49ers for three-time Pro Bowl punter Andy Lee, a league source confirmed for the Beacon Journal. The Browns are also releasing punter Spencer Lanning, the source said.
ESPN first reported the moves. The Browns surrendered a seventh-round draft pick in 2017 for Lee, according to the network.
The 32-year-old Lee has punted 941 times for 43,468 gross yards (46.2 average) and 37,296 net yards (39.6 average) with 300 downed inside the 20-yard line and 91 touchbacks, earning Pro Bowl nods in 2007, 2011 and 2012.
