Browns still planning to start Taylor over Mayfield

BEREA, Ohio -- Baker Mayfield's impressive preseason NFL debut hasn't altered Cleveland's quarterback rotation.

The No. 1 overall draft pick threw two touchdown passes in Thursday's win over the New York Giants, and his striking performance prompted cries that Mayfield should jump Tyrod Taylor and begin the season as the Browns starter.

But quarterbacks coach Ken Zampese quashed that idea Sunday, saying, "we have a plan and we're sticking to it. Let's get on with Tyrod as our starter. He's our guy."

The Browns want Mayfield to spend his rookie season watching and learning behind Taylor, who went 5 for 5 for 99 yards and a touchdown in two series against the Giants.
