The Cleveland Browns signed linebacker Cam Johnson to the practice squad on Tuesday. To make room on the roster, the team released defensive lineman Kelcy Quarles from the practice squad.
The team announced the moves on its website.
The 6-foot-4, 268-pound Johnson was originally selected by San Francisco in the seventh round of the 2012 NFL Draft out of Virginia. He spent most of the season on the practice squad, but did appear in two games with the 49ers.
The Indianapolis Colts traded a conditional draft pick to the 49ers in 2013 for Johnson, who appeared in 12 games for the Colts that season, registering five tackles.
