BEREA: Browns running backs coach Wilbert Montgomery publicly called out his players Sunday because no one at the position has shown a desire to seize control of the starting job.
At least that’s Montgomery’s opinion, and it’s a concern for an offense planning to rely heavily on its running game. So Montgomery didn’t mince words while using the media to deliver a message to his pupils.
“How can you play and not want to be a starter?” Montgomery said after the ninth full-squad practice of training camp. “It just bothers me that guys don’t want to be the lead bell-cow guy.
