Oakland Raiders tight ends coach Bobby Johnson confesses to having a fondness for the Mid-American Conference.
Why shouldn’t the Akron native? After all, he played tackle for the Miami RedHawks after graduating from Archbishop Hoban High School. He then began his coaching career at the University of Akron, first as a graduate assistant and then defensive line coach.
Despite five years’ experience now in the NFL, Johnson would like to eventually return to the MAC.
“The Mid-American Conference always holds a soft spot in my heart,” he said.
He was traveling down that track before getting involved in the NFL.
