CLEVELAND, Ohio -- The Browns drafted a tight end on Thursday night. Friday, they parted ways with their top tight end from the last two seasons, Gary Barnidge.
Barnidge tweeted, "I want to thank the Cleveland Browns for giving me my opportunity and looking forward to seeing the change. Time for the next step." A team source confirmed his release.
Barnidge caught 134 passes for 1,655 yards over the last two seasons. He spent four seasons with the Browns, logging the best season of his career in 2015 when he caught 79 passes for 1,043 yards and was named to the Pro Bowl.
