They cleared the way for Draughn to join the 53-man roster by trading defensive lineman Billy Winn on Friday to the Indianapolis Colts in exchange for a conditional seventh-round draft pick in 2017.
Draughn joins starter Isaiah Crowell and rookie Duke Johnson to form the trio of running backs available to the Browns when they face the New York Jets in the regular-season opener Sunday at MetLife Stadium.
Draughn performed better than any Browns running back in training camp until he suffered a thumb injury Aug. 7 during the Orange & Brown Scrimmage in Columbus. He had to wear a cast for several weeks but shed it during practice this week.
