Cleveland Browns president Alec Scheiner has resigned effective March 31, the team announced Friday.
Scheiner will serve as a consultant through the end of the year. He had been in charge of the team's business operations.
Owners Jimmy and Dee Haslam said the front office reorganization following last year's 3-13 season "would limit the opportunity for (Scheiner's) leadership."
The most significant addition was the hiring of Paul DePodesta from the New York Mets as director of strategy. Sashi Brown also took over as vice president in charge of football operations.
"Alec is extremely capable and has helped us establish some very positive inroads with a significant focus on our fan experience, FirstEnergy Stadium and our business partners," the Haslams said in a statement released by the team.
