At one point, the Cleveland Browns made it very clear that QB Deshaun Watson would play in the final preseason game on Saturday night. That plan made sense with the Browns hoping to get Watson some live reps after missing most of last season due to injuries including a season-ending one to his shoulder.
Then Cleveland lost offensive linemen and didn’t get Jedrick Wills or Jack Conklin back from the PUP list. Opinions varied, including mine that Watson should not play against the Seattle Seahawks, due to the concerns on the offensive line.
