When the Browns reported to team headquarters Monday in Berea for the start of their voluntary offseason conditioning program, one of the best players — free safety Tashaun Gipson — proved to be a no-show while the most high-profile player — quarterback Johnny Manziel — thrust himself back into a football life after spending much of the offseason addressing personal issues.
Gipson, a restricted free agent and Pro Bowler, did not report, but Manziel did, sources familiar with the situation said. The sources spoke on condition of anonymity because the team had yet to publicly discuss attendance.
The Browns extended a second-round tender to Gipson on March 9.
