Browns notebook: Vikings running backs coach Kirby Wilson interviews with Hue Jackson, John DeFilippo finds new job and more

Minnesota Vikings running backs coach Kirby Wilson is interviewing with the Browns on Wednesday to become the running game coordinator on new coach Hue Jackson’s staff, a source familiar with the situation confirmed for the Beacon Journal.

Wilson has coached running backs for 17 years in the NFL. He has tutored five who are among the top 25 all-time leading rushers in league history: Adrian Peterson of the Vikings and retired backs Emmitt Smith, Curtis Martin, Edgerrin James and Thomas Jones. Smith and Martin are members of the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

“[Wilson is] a great guy and an even better coach,” Peterson told the Minneapolis Star Tribune.
