Browns notebook: Search for VP of player personnel continues, Sashi Brown to retain control of 53-man roster

BEREA: As it turns out, the Browns aren’t technically searching for a general manager after all.

After the firing of coach Mike Pettine and GM Ray Farmer on Jan. 3, owner Jimmy Haslam laid out the team’s plan to hire a general manager who would report to head of football operations Sashi Brown. Per Brown on Thursday, though, the team is actually searching for a vice president of player personnel, a role with a narrower scope of responsibilities.

With Brown retaining control of the 53-man roster and acting as the final decision maker in the room, the Browns are focused on bringing in a VP of player personnel to primarily assist with talent evaluation.
