BEREA: The Browns signed third-string quarterback Austin Davis to a two-year contract extension through 2017, a team spokesman confirmed Wednesday.
ESPN first reported the extension and noted it’s worth $4.173 million. Davis is scheduled to make base salaries of $800,000 this year, $1.35 million next year and $1.7 million in 2017, according to the NFL Players Association.
The Browns originally signed Davis to a one-year deal on Sept. 7 after the St. Louis Rams cut him two days earlier.
Davis, 26, has yet to play this season.
“I just think it shows they do trust me on some level,” Davis said of receiving a new deal before taking a snap for the Browns.
