Browns notebook: Paul Kruger hopes to find groove as pass rusher, but position change has limited opportunities

BEREA: The Browns are asking starting outside linebacker Paul Kruger to sacrifice what he does best for the sake of the defense.

Kruger led the team with a career-high 11 sacks last season, but he’s receiving fewer opportunities to rush the passer this season. Instead of playing rush linebacker like he did last year, Kruger is in the strongside linebacker role. He has eight tackles and a half sack through three games.

“I’m playing a different position this year, which is going to put me into coverage more often,” Kruger said. “ ... It is a big difference.
