Browns notebook: Offensive coordinator John DeFilippo pushing wide receiver Dwayne Bowe: ‘I told Dwayne we expect more out of him’

BEREA: Browns offensive coordinator John DeFilippo publicly issued a challenge to veteran wide receiver Dwayne Bowe on Thursday.

After spending the first eight seasons of his NFL career with the Kansas City Chiefs, Bowe joined the Browns in March by signing a two-year deal, $12.5 million contract, which includes $9 million guaranteed.

The Browns want Bowe to be their No. 1 receiver, but he missed most of training camp and the two of four exhibition games with a hamstring injury. He finished the preseason with just one catch for 8 yards.

Now the Browns are hoping he steps up when they open the regular season on the road Sunday against the New York Jets.
