Browns notebook: NFL didn’t find sufficient evidence to punish Johnny Manziel for Oct. 12 incident he calls ‘personal and embarrassing’

BEREA: The NFL revealed it not only interviewed Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel, but also his girlfriend, Colleen Crowley, about the couple’s Oct. 12 in-car fight before deciding it would not discipline Manziel under the league’s personal conduct policy.

About five hours after the Browns named Manziel their starting quarterback for the remainder of the season on Tuesday, the NFL announced it would not punish him.

“Consistent with the procedures of the league’s personal conduct policy, we have examined the available evidence regarding the recent incident involving Johnny Manziel,” a statement from the league read. “Our investigation included a thorough review of information from law enforcement and our own interviews with multiple individuals, including the two involved in the incident.
