Browns notebook: Last remaining pick from Julio Jones trade gone with release of defensive tackle Phil Taylor

BEREA: The last of five Browns players drafted with selections acquired in the 2011 Julio Jones trade has left the building.

In the most surprising move of Tuesday’s cuts to reach the 75-man roster limit, the Browns reached an injury settlement and terminated the contract of defensive lineman Phil Taylor, their 21st overall pick in 2011.

Taylor, 6-foot-3 and 335 pounds, underwent two surgeries on his right knee last year and missed the first two preseason games. The Browns picked up the option on his rookie contract and guaranteed his base salary of $5.477 million for 2015 by keeping him on the roster at the start of the league year in March.
