Browns notebook: Kirby Wilson hired as running game coordinator, John DeFilippo finds new job and more

The Browns have hired former Minnesota Vikings running backs coach Kirby Wilson as their running game coordinator, a source familiar with the situation confirmed Wednesday for the Beacon Journal.

Wilson interviewed for the role on the staff of new Browns coach Hue Jackson on Wednesday.

Wilson has coached running backs for 17 years in the NFL. He has tutored five who are among the top 25 all-time leading rushers in league history: Adrian Peterson of the Vikings and retired backs Emmitt Smith, Curtis Martin, Edgerrin James and Thomas Jones. Smith and Martin are members of the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
