Browns notebook: Journeyman linebacker Scott Solomon gains attention with his intensity

BEREA: None of Scott Solomon’s teammates want to encounter him when the Browns practice.

“I don’t like going against him because it’s going to be a strap-’em-up play,” right guard John Greco said.

Solomon has been cut five times in the past three years, so he’s hell-bent on proving he belongs every day. The former seventh-round draft pick of the Tennessee Titans has earned an intimidating reputation and high praise from the coaching staff because of the intensity he brings to the outside linebacker position.

“Scott is very quickly becoming one of my favorite players on the defense,” Browns defensive coordinator Jim O’Neil said Thursday as the team’s three-day mandatory minicamp wrapped up.
