BEREA: As it turns out, the Browns aren’t technically searching for a general manager.
After the firing of coach Mike Pettine and GM Ray Farmer on Jan. 3, owner Jimmy Haslam laid out the team’s plan to hire a GM who would report to head of football operations Sashi Brown. But on Thursday, Brown said the team is actually searching for a vice president of player personnel, a role with a narrower scope of responsibilities.
With Brown controlling the 53-man roster, the Browns are focused on bringing in a VP of player personnel to primarily assist with talent evaluation.
