CLEVELAND: Last week, Tennessee Titans rookie quarterback Marcus Mariota finished with a perfect passer rating in his victorious NFL regular-season debut against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
On Sunday in FirstEnergy Stadium, Mariota suffered a sprained left ankle on a first-quarter sack and forced fumble by defensive lineman John Hughes that left Mariota without his helmet and shoe. He was sacked seven times in a 28-14 loss to the Browns.
The Browns’ defense, criticized for its play in a 31-10 road loss to the New York Jets in the opener, came out bent on redemption.
